Veeam restore point simulator4/11/2023 ![]() ![]() If we go over to the OnCommand Storage Manager GUI, we can see this snapshot: Once the VMware-level snapshots have been taken, Veeam instructs the storage system to cretae a volume-level snapshot: The first thing we’ll notice is that, as in any other job, the VM is prepared for backup and a VMware-level snapshot is taken of each of the VMs in the job: Instead, we’ll look at a running job to see what is happening at the various stages. ![]() Creating this sort of job is now different from creating any other standard backup job so we’re not going to go through the job creation steps. Now that all of the NetApp integration work has been completed we can start creating backup jobs that use the Direct NFS transport mode to backup directly from storage snapshots. This is one part of a seven part series – links to the other parts can be found at the bottom of the page. In this final post we’ll put that intagration to work by backing up from a storage snapshot and then resoring a VM from a snapshot.
